THE WOMAN IN BLACK WAY OVERPERFORMS
In The Woman in Black, Daniel Radcliffe may not have a megablockbuster on the scale of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (or even the more modest Deathly Hallows: Part 1); even so, the period horror thriller starring Radcliffe in his very first post-Harry Potter role may well top the North American box office this Superbowl weekend. According to early, rough estimates found at Deadline.com, CBS Films' The Woman in Black may reach close to $20 million by Sunday evening after grosses of approximately $8.1 million at 2,855 theaters on Friday.
The Woman in Black has a 68% approval rating among Rotten Tomatoes' top critics, with a 5.9 average. Those are hardly "wide acclaim" figures. Even so, the combination of the Radcliffe and a mysterious ghost have been luring the curious into movie theaters. Directed by James Watkins, The Woman in Black also features Janet McTeer (a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nominee for Albert Nobbs), Ciarán Hinds, Shaun Dooley, David Burke, and Liz White

Daniel Radcliffe to star in 2013 "The Cripple Of Inishmaan" London stage production
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Daniel Radcliffe's next stage role will be back in London's West End, where he will star in the 12-week production of The Cripple Of Inishmaan from 8 June - 31 August 2013. More information on the former Harry Potter actor's next stage role, as well as a place to purchase tickets, can be found here. The play will be featured at the Noel Coward Theatre.
This will be one of many productions by director Michael Grandage, who will be helming several short-run plays for his new West End theatre company beginning this winter and throughout 2013, said the Daily Mail. A preview of the five productions, starring the likes of Dame Judi Dench and Jude Law, can be seen here.
Quote: Cripple Billy, orphaned since birth, just might have found a way off the Isle of Aran and a route all the way to Hollywood if he can persuade a small community of Islanders how much he wants to realise his dream.
Martin McDonagh’s comic masterpiece examines an ordinary coming of age in extraordinary circumstances and confirms his position as one of the most original Irish voices to emerge in the second half of the twentieth century. Daniel Radcliffe plays the title role in the first major London revival since its premiere at the National Theatre in 1996. More about the play and Dan's decision to take on the role, from the Mail, can be read here.
Quote: Set in 1934, it is about a young man with a withered hand and foot who lives off the west coast of Ireland, and is known by the locals as ‘Cripple Billy’.
‘It’s got pathos, heartbreak — and it’s very funny,’ said Daniel.
On the neighbouring Isle of Arran, an American film-maker is shooting a documentary and Billy feels this is his chance to escape.
‘A young boy desperate to be in film . . . I can relate to that,’ Daniel laughed.
‘I’ve been desperate to find something to come back to London with,’ he said, adding that he and Michael Grandage engaged in a series of discussions while they were working in New York.

Daniel Radcliffe to Grow HornsHarry Potter star will return to fantasy in supernatural thriller directed by Alexandre Aja, based on the novel by Joe Hill Share 18 Horny devil … Daniel Radcliffe to star in Alexandre Aja's dark fantasy thriller. Photograph: Andrew Kelly/Reuters Fresh from undeadly success in The Woman in Black, Daniel Radcliffe is to return to fantasy for his next project. Horns, a supernatural thriller directed by Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes, Mirrors, Piranha 3D), will star Radcliffe as the lead suspect in the rape and murder of his girlfriend. Based on the novel by Joe Hill, Radcliffe's character, Ig Perrish, wakes up with a bad hangover and a pair of horns sprouting from his head. These appendages have their benefits, as their power drives people to confess sins and give in to selfish impulses. This helps Ig in his quest to catch his girlfriend's killer. "After reading Joe Hill's cult book, I couldn't resist temptation to dive into the devilish underworld and reinvent a universal myth," said Aja. "Horns is a wild ride of sin and crime, with a love story at its heart." The Guardian
