EVERLASTING
With Sony distribution joining forces with MGM, the James Bond franchise (presumably in the form of Bond 23 with Daniel Craig starring and Sam Mendes directing) is alive again. On 10.5.12 the 007 franchise will be a half-century old. It won't die. I thought the brand was over when George Lazenby came along, but the dry comedic tone of The Spy Who Loved Me re-energized it. Then I thought it was over 20 years ago and along came the Pierce Brosnan phase. And then Casino Royale revived things again. So what do I know?

No, Mr Bond, I expect you to buy - new Bond film raises $50m in product placement revenue
THE next James Bond movie is set to blow its rivals out of the water - in product placement revenues. Studio MGM and the film's distributor, Sony, have agreed a deal to raise £30 million ($50 million) from companies seeking to associate their brands with the 007 franchise, one-third of the film's budget, The (London) Sunday Times reported.
This would double the previous record held by Steven Spielberg's 2002 Minority Report, starring Tom Cruise.
Among the firms being lined up are rapidly expanding Chinese technology companies.
The as-yet untitled film, the 23rd in the franchise, will star Daniel Craig as the smooth-talking British secret agent and Judi Dench as Bond's boss. But the hunt is still on for a new Bond girl.

The London-born singer teased her big secret during an interview with U.K. TV host Jonathan Ross after he asked about her upcoming projects.

Adele mentioned the recording studio, before blurting out, "It is actually a theme, what I've got to do. Wow, that's really giving something away!"
She then covered her mouth, and Ross began humming the Bond theme tune. Adele added, "It's a concept. One song."
Adele will be in good company if she does end up on the superspy soundtrack -- Jack White and Alicia Keys, Madonna, Paul McCartney and Shirley Bassey have all released 007 themes.

.New James Bond movie may be shot in India Daniel Craig will return as James Bond in the as yet untitled new film
The next James Bond movie is likely to be partly shot in India, according to a pre-production company in Delhi.
Government permission has been granted to shoot in Mumbai (Bombay), Delhi and Goa, Rahul Soni of India Take One Productions told the BBC.
This would be the second Bond film to be shot in India - Octopussy, released in June 1983, was the first.
The 23rd Bond film, which has yet to be named, will be directed by Sam Mendes and released on 9 November 2012.
Daniel Craig - star of 2006's Casino Royale and 2008's Quantum of Solace - is returning as the titular spy.
There have also been reports that some of the shoot will take place in South Africa, and that filming would begin by the end of the year.
Production company EON could not confirm details of the shooting schedule or locations, telling the BBC that the film was "still in pre-production".
Rail sequence India's media has reported that the film is expected to be shot in a crowded old market and a popular flea market in Delhi.
But Pravesh Sahni, one of the film's line producers, told the Delhi Times newspaper that Sam Mendes preferred to shoot in Mumbai over the capital, Delhi.
"They wanted to capture Indian streets to show crowded lanes," he was quoted as saying by the paper.
The paper also said that the producers had met Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi for permission to shoot a sequence on a train.
"I want Daniel Craig to be the brand ambassador for Indian Railways," Mr Trivedi is quoted as saying.
The 1983 Bond film Octopussy - the 13th in the series - was shot extensively at a palace in Udaipur in India, and starred Indian tennis star Vijay Amrithraj and actor Kabir Bedi.
A number of foreign films have been shot in India in recent years - the 2008 Oscar winning hit Slumdog Millionaire being the most prominent.
Others are Ang Lee's Life of Pi, and the Julia Roberts and Javier Bardem-starrer Eat, Pray, Love.
India Take One also assisted with pre-production on the forthcoming Mission Impossible film, starring Tom Cruise.
Michael Winterbottom's new film Trishna, starring Slumdog Millionaire actress Freida Pinto, was also shot in India earlier this year.
Based on Thomas Hardy's novel Tess of the d'Urbervilles, Trishna is set in contemporary India and tells the tragic love story between the son of a wealthy businessman and the daughter of a rickshaw driver

Bond 23 Preps for Istanbul Producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli met with officials yesterday in Istanbul, Turkey, to finalise plans to shoot part of the 23rd James Bond film in the city. They met with Ertugrul Günay, Turkish Culture and Tourism Minister, in his office on Tuesday to firm up production plans ahead of principal photography kicking off in November.
"The opening scenes are planned to be filmed in Istanbul, but some other places will also be used outside Istanbul for the film," Günay confirmed.
James Bond is no stranger to Istanbul, and as the series marks its 50th anniversary next year, it is fitting that 007 would return to one of the most loved locations in the history of the franchise. Wilson told local reporters, "it really just feels like we are coming home."
Locations are set to include the city's historical neighborhood Sultanahmet Square, which EON Productions had secured filming permissions earlier this month. "There are, however, a number of locations, including the waterside and shores of the Bosporus, in consideration for the 10-15 minutes of the movie that is to be filmed in Turkey," Günay revealed.
A small pre-production crew is currently in Istanbul finalising logistics. Casting the role of a villain's girlfriend has begun with a search of Turkish actresses.
The major location for Bond 23 is understood to be South Africa, after plans to shoot in India were scrapped.
Daniel Craig begins preperations for the film next week with filming at Pinewood Studios scheduled to start in November 2011. The film's UK release is set for just less than a year later on 26th October 2012. SOURCE

Re : Bond 23 Preps for Istanbul
EDIT : Sorry about my venting.. I just couldnt help venting when I saw that picture which Architect had posted.. The closing and moving of the Istanbul Opera house to another building had nothing to do with James Bond.. Hence my editing.. Nonetheless, those who have read my post will understand me, I'm sure..

Javier Bardem Confirms Bond Role The Spaniard Javier Bardem has had his name associated with the production of the new Bond since January 2011 when Deadline broke the news that Bardrem had been offered a part in the 23rd James Bond film.
Now, in an interview with ABC's Nightline, Bardem let slip that he had as good as landed the role. The majority of the interview quizzes the actor about his involvement in a new documentary, raising awareness for western Sahara's refugee camps, however, the interviewer could not resist asking "about the next villain you are going to play, in James Bond?"
Bardrem responded: "I am very excited, my parents took me to watch the movies, and I saw all of them, and to play that is going to be fun. They chose me to play this man, but I cannot give you many details." SOURCE

Albert Finney Joins Bond 23 After the relatively disappointing Quantum of Solace, crippled by the writers’ strike, there are a lot of big hopes for Bond 23, which will be directed by Sam Mendes and may be called Skyfall.
While we know very little reliable info about the story that will be featured in the film, the cast is shaping up to be capable of fulfilling those hopes. Daniel Craig returns as James Bond, and Judi Dench returns to play M. And in this installment we’ll see one of M’s powerful superior government officers, played by Albert Finney.
The news about Finney and Bond comes from Baz Bamigboye, who has been on the forefront of Bond casting news. He says the casting was sprung on the cast as a surprise at a script reading, and that Finney will be “a Foreign Office mandarin with powers over the Secret Intelligence Service, described to me as a reasonably big role and full of class. The part probably makes him M’s boss, though she — as played by Judi — might not see it that way.”
Also in the film are Javier Bardem and Ralph Fiennes, along with Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris as Moneypenny, Helen McCrory, Rory Kinnear and Berenice Marlohe. This report also says that John Logan, who has been finishing the Bond 23 script, has been enlisted by EON Productions to work on future Bond films. Shooting on Bond 23 starts next week, so we should have some real news about the story and title shortly. SOURCE

Thanks Archie.. I've read in a local newspaper that Daniel Craig said the 23rd James Bond is going to be his last Bond . (Only 3, Daniel ?) He ,s leaving Bond for younger actors to play the coveted role .. I hope this one wont be like Quantum of Solace which was a huge disappointment for me..

Ben Whishaw Q'd Up for Bond Ben Whishaw, whose casting was confirmed at the official launch of the 23rd Bond movie earlier this month, will play the MI6 stalwart. It's the first time that the character, who's been absent from the franchise for 10 years, has been portrayed as younger than Bond himself. SOURCE
