UGH ! Rafa starts Grand Slams nervous and shaky.. Thts what happened yesterday. I couldnt watch the match because of the time difference , umm, I was sleeping at 4.00 a.m. when Rafa started.. Glad that I didnt watch the match. It was so topsy turvy.. Now Rafa will face Nicolas Mahut, the record breaker.. Ranked 99 , but very very dangerous.. I believe if Rafa finds his serve, rhythm, and most important his confidence , he can beat anyone.. But he has had some problems this year after winning Roland Garros.. He had a virus which took a long time to recover, then he had the foot problem. He had high fever -- gave the Wimbledon final to that guy.. It isimportant that he needs to find his confidence and starts playing aggresive..He won his fist match but if he plays like that ...I dont want to think about it..

Imelda, Architect, Have you read about the EGG-ROLE for the incredible, almost supernatural improvement of Djokovic's game ? How he is winning everything this year, when he had serious breathing or allergy problems and would retire when he would start suffering from them.. How come he has no breathing or allergic issues any more ? Well, Wall Street Journal had an article about it and a few others followed. But ATP ignores it. In short, it sounds like "blood doping" done in an egg shaped machine, just like the sci-fi films. Here is an article by Steve Tignor : blogs.tennis.com/thewrap/2011/08/egg-role.html"The question today is whether the pod should be legal. If it does what CVAC says its does—boost red blood cells—then it’s akin to blood doping, and if you can get the benefit of hard-core exercise while sitting and talking on your cell phone, it’s a competitive advantage. Five years ago, WADA addressed oxygen contraptions like this by labeling them against “the spirit of sport,” but didn’t ban them. The next question, of course, is: If you do ban them, can you detect their use? There’s obviously no substance to test for. Either way, now that an athlete of Djokovic’s stature has said he’s been in one, WADA should make a definitive statement on the egg’s legality." *

WHEW !! Great matches at the USO.. I watched a few last night , some of them taking 4 or 5 hours to wrap up.. Incredible and well done Young fromm the USA who beat Wawrinka in 5 sets in a 4-hour match.. So Sharapova was out, good job by Flavia.. Serena has a tough match today..I wont miss it..
Rafa wrapped up his match quite easily, after two 6-2, 6-2 sets, his opponent, the famous Mahut (remember the 11 - hour match from last year?) gave up and retired.. Wish Rafa had more match-play. VAMOS CAMPEON !
Here is another sweet interview:

Serena looked very VERY good. What's up with that hooting from Azerenko? (sp) Extremely annoying. I'd think I'd want to beat her just to shut her up? Anywayz... I was happy that Serena put her away in straight sets.

Perhaps the US Open should have a heat rule like at the Austrailian Open? I only say that because people seem to be dropping like FLIES during their matches? What's the count already? 14 players have retired from their matches? Poor Flavia Penneta was throwing up at the back of the court from the heat. STUPID UMPIRE gave her a time warning! I mean, there's the girl doubled over heaving at the back of the court, and the umpire gives her a TIME warning for holding up play? Anywayz, it's the humidity that is the culprit, it was extremely humid yesterday, near 75%.. horrible. (I also read somewhere that peoples allergies were worse than ever since hurricane Irene passed through.) At any rate, they should at least have ice packs at hand during the change-overs?

Oh Imelda, I was scared too when I read the news first.. Seeing the video was awful..I didnt know what to think. people are criticising USTA and USO for running it ..It is still the first news on CNN sports.. Rafa seemed a bit embarassed and said it happens all the time in the locker room, but it happened at a press conference.. Quotes by Andy M. and Roddick: Well said, guys ! I love Roddick for his attitude aganst the press: Nadal collapses with cramp "It was just a normal cramp that could have happened anywhere, but it happened in the press room. Anywhere else, nobody would have noticed." Rafael Nadal explains his mysterious slide under the table at a news conference. Andy Murray : "Rafa's human, I think some people forget that sometimes. It was incredibly humid. He very rarely plays that early so if you mess up your eating or your drinking before the match, you can get yourself in a bad way. I'm glad he's alright. I'm sure it was a bit of a shock for him." Andy Murray has plenty of sympathy for the defending champion. Andy Roddick: "Not to put a dampener on the story, which I know you guys think is really big, but people cramp after matches when you're cold." Andy Roddick on Nadal's cramp.

LOL Imelda.. I dont know which one has the worst shriek, Sharapova or Azarenka ?? So glad that Serena sent her home..
I wacthed Serena vs Ana Ivanovic. No need to say I was rooting vocally for Serena.. I wish I had the phone number of Eurosport. Our commentator talked about Ana this, Ana that..It was all about Ana.. She was losing but the idiot commentator kept telling her how to meet Serena's shots.. I am enjoying Serena's game a lot .. I hope she wins it.. I liked it when she was in trouble, she held her hair in a tight bun and played till the match was over.
What about the Italian Flavia who sent Sharapova home ?..She keeps winning..

Too bad that the bottom half had to skip yesterday due to heavy rain and they will play toda, hopefuly no rain please.. I ve heard that Rafa lobbied to play his match against Muller at Arthur Ashe which is larger and more windy.. How else can you return those monster serves ? Well done Rafa and good luck .. [/img]

I RACED back from rehearsal HOPING to see some action... BAH.. stupid rain. They really do need a roof, (or roofs?) (rooves?) sooner rather than later. There is NO way they are going to be able to complete this by Sunday? Unless they schedule play 24/7? (Well, not for nothing they call New York the city that never sleeps?)
