Harry Potter fans react to MTV Awards'Harry Potter' Fans 'Disappointed' By Movie Awards Results Posted 6/6/11 3:51 pm ET by Josh Wigler in MTV Movie Awards, In the war between vampires and werewolves versus wizards, it appears that the spell-casting crowd lost the battle at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards. Despite being nominated for six awards, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1" walked away from last night's proceedings with only one to its name — Tom Felton, who won Best Villain for the second year in a row — while "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" managed to win five out of eight nominations, including three directly involving Robert Pattinson (and one category in which the movie beat itself). To get a sense for how "Harry Potter" fans are feeling about the franchise's latest Movie Awards showing, we reached out to some of the most noted experts in the "Potter" community and found out that, yes, disappointment is sadly in the air. "I was really disappointed," said Julia Hodges of DanRadcliffe.com and RupertGrint.net. "The 'Harry Potter' films are not only amazing for the people who love 'Harry Potter,' they're amazing films. They've been nominated for so many Oscars and have actually won a few. They were recognized at the most recent BAFTA Awards for Outstanding Contribution to British Cinema. So the quality of the 'Potter' films alone — it's incredible." "I was disappointed, but at the same time, the 'Harry Potter' fan base is so huge and we know that we love the films and stories," said Rosi Halse of The Leaky Cauldron, who's looking at the bright side of last night's Movie Awards showing. "Emma Watson looked amazing and Tom Felton [winning Best Villain] was amazing. I think you can't help but be proud, whether or not they missed out on the awards." "It is a shame, because 'Potter' definitely deserves it — but 'Twilight' has this really big fan base that apparently can't be beat," laughed Andrew Sims of Muggle Net. But Andrew isn't giving up hope that the series-concluding "Deathly Hallows Part 2" might be the big winner at next year's Movie Awards. "I just hope that at the next Movie Awards, 'Potter' fans finally learn their lesson in voting!" Both Rosi and Julia share Andrew's optimism, with Julia adding: "If [the clip shown last night] was just a preview of things to come, I think it'll definitely walk away with a few awards next year." What say you, "Potter" fans? Are you discouraged by last night's showing or are you already looking ahead at "Deathly Hallows Part 2's" chances going into next year's Movie Awards? Let us know in the comments section and on Twitter, and a huge thank you to Julia, Rosi and Andrew for chatting with us! ************************************* -- Well, if you ask me, I say booo to MTV.. Twilight is nothing to Harry Potter. That's all.
