Oh no Rox, hold me! Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen Renounce Acting Ever since Elizabeth Olsen rocketed to indie fame at last year’s Sundance Film Festival, all eyes have been trained on the previously unknown younger sister of Mary-Kate and Ashley. Now the latter two, who together have amassed more than 45 years of onscreen experience and built a billion-dollar fashion empire since their days as toddler actresses, are officially passing the torch.
“It was time to step behind the process,” says Ashley, whose last onscreen appearance was in 2004’s New York Minute, in the April issue of British Elle. “I wanted to work on other things. It doesn’t mean I’m not interested in Hollywood. I like the way it operates, I like the people who are involved and the sense of possibility. But if I ever get back in, it’s not going to be as an actress.”
Mary-Kate, who last appeared in 2011’s Beastly, adds that it “just felt right to move away [from the spotlight].”
“I don’t have to be a pretty face,” says Ashley. “I’ve done that, but now it’s important and liberating to be on the other side of the lens. I don’t like to be the center of attention anymore.” She and Mary-Kate run two high-end fashion labels (Elizabeth and James, and the Row) as well as other retail collections.
Sadly for you, this somber news does not mean that your How the West Was Fun VHS tape qualifies as a collector’s item. Keep checking eBay, though! In the meantime, if you’re in desperate need of an Olsen movie fix, Silent House, which stars Elizabeth, opens this week. (Or, if you’re suffering from severe withdrawal, take the week off and watch ABC Family.) SOURCE

J.K. Rowling's New Book "The Casual Vacancy" Out 27th September 2012
Hold on to your hats, people: the publisher Little, Brown has just put out a press release giving us the title of JK Rowling’s new book… The Casual Vacancy! The book will be out on the 27th September 2012 (worldwide release date) and Little, Brown also provided a plot summary:
When Barry Fairweather dies unexpectedly in his early forties, the little town of Pagford is left in shock.
Pagford is, seemingly, an English idyll, with a cobbled market square and an ancient abbey, but what lies behind the pretty façade is a town at war.
Rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils…Pagford is not what it first seems.
And the empty seat left by Barry on the parish council soon becomes the catalyst for the biggest war the town has yet seen. Who will triumph in an election fraught with passion, duplicity and unexpected revelations?
Blackly comic, thought-provoking and constantly surprising, The Casual Vacancy is J.K. Rowling’s first novel for adults.

Hey look it's 'Carter,' everyone take a drink! '21 Jump Street' Directors in Talks for 'Carter' 21 Jump Street directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller are trying to help Carter Beats the Devil finally emerge from development hell. Lord and Miller are in talks to come aboard to direct the movie, which has been set up at Warners Bros. since 2010. Jon Shestack is producing from a script by Michael Gilio.
Paramount originally optioned the book in 2002 for Tom Cruise to star and his banner, Cruise/Wagner, to produce. Once that deal lapsed, AMC took a stab at turning it into a TV series, butthe network couldn’t figure out the adaptation trick either.
Lord and Miller are an interesting choice for what would be a period adventure movie blah, blah, blah cakes! ;D

Dylan McDermott Finds Truth Surrounding His Mother's Death Airdate : 6/26/2012 Actor Dylan McDermott has helped solve a 45-year-old mystery surrounding his own mother's murder. Cops say the star of The Practice and American Horror Story pushed them to re-open the investigation into how his mom died in 1967. Dylan McDermott was only 5 years old when cops ruled his mom had accidentally shot herself. But McDermott never bought that theory. He thought she'd been murdered. So, not long ago, the actor asked cops to re-open the case, and now the state medical examiner has ruled the gun was actually pressed to the back of his mother's head—making it a homicide—not an accident. Cops say the killer was John Sponza, McDermott's mom's boyfriend. Sponza, an organized crime figure, was found slain himself in the trunk of a car in 1972. Dylan McDermott was able to overcome his tragic childhood and become a star. He got his big break in the Clint Eastwood movie In the Line of Fire, playing a Secret Service agent. Raised by his grandmother, he never forgot the circumstances of his mother's death. On CBS Sunday Morning, McDermott said, "We lived on $100 a week, my sister and I. And my grandmother worked two jobs." McDermott just tweeted this about his 45-year fight to bring his mom justice: "I'd like to thank everyone for their amazing support today. It means so much to me. It's been a long, hard journey that ended in victory." insideedition

Behind the Candelabra Peek: Michael Douglas as Liberace, Matt Damon As Alleged Lover
Steven Soderbergh refuses to let up his breakneck pace of filming and is already at work on his Liberace biopic Behind the Candelabra, which stars Michael Douglas as the flamboyant sparkly-suited superstar pianist (pictured above in one of his more understated moments). Beside Douglas and his bouffant in the first pic from the set (viewable here via ABC News), we find co-star Matt Damon, who's rocking quite the '70s coif himself as Liberace's companion and alleged gay lover Scott Thorson. Ladies and gentleman, we may have found the only man in Hollywood who can indeed rock a blonde He-Man pageboy 'do. Somebody call Jon M. Chu! Behind the Candelabra boasts a script by Richard LaGravanesse and a supporting cast that includes Debbie Reynolds, Rob Lowe, Scott Bakula, Dan Aykroyd, and Nicky Katt. The film will be released by HBO and is based on Thorson's autobiography Behind the Candelabra: My Life With Liberace, which recounted the pair's longstanding relationship and alleged romantic involvement. I like Tom Hardy although I disliked Dark Knight Rising and his Darth Vader speech.. Well, that film was very disappointing and Christian Bale was a weakling Batman.. Now comes this project : Tom Hardy Climbing Aboard Doug Liman-Directed ‘Everest’; He’ll Play George Mallory EXCLUSIVE: Tom Hardy is in early talks to star in Everest for Sony Pictures. He will play George Mallory, the climber who tried three times in the 1920s to become the first man to scale the world’s highest mountain. Doug Liman will direct the film after he completes All You Need Is Kill at Warner Bros with Tom Cruise. An adaptation of Jeffrey Archer’s book Paths Of Glory, Everest has been adapted by Sheldon Turner (Up In The Air). Jennifer Klein is producing, and Dave Bartis, Liman’s partner at Hypnotic, will also be a producer. Liman, the Bourne Identity and Mr. And Mrs. Smith helmer who is himself an avid climber and fan of the Mallory story, has an actor who is a strong match for the intensity that burned in Mallory to get to the top of the mountain and beat another great climber, Australian George Finch (the grandfather of actor Peter Finch). Everest has been scaled many times since, but it is still dangerous–there are plenty of bodies near the final summit of those who got close but failed–but in Mallory’s time, it was like trying to become the first man on the moon. Hobbit Film Fever Sees Wellington Change Name
The capital city of New Zealand will rename itself as it prepares to host the world premiere of the opening film in The Hobbit trilogy. Wellington is to become The Middle of Middle-Earth for three weeks before and after the event. Small folk paraphernalia will be spread around the city and a red carpet will extend 500 yards through the centre to honour the movie, which follows Bilbo Baggins in his quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor. Wellington is planning to spend NZ\$ 1.1m (£560,000) to mark the premiere of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey at the Embassy Theatre on November 28. The city is a fitting venue for the film, which is directed by Wellington resident Peter Jackson and filmed throughout New Zealand. "Thousands of people want to come and be part of the fun," Wellington Mayor Celia Wade-Brown said. She went on to reveal that Jackson had helped to create a film industry in Wellington which now employs more than 3,000 people. The name change will be widely recognised, including in postmarks on letters and the masthead of the city's main newspaper. Stars of the film include Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen and Richard Armitage, although it is not known which of the main cast members will attend the premiere. ....@yahoonewsuk

Disney to make new 'Star Wars' films after buying Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- A decade after George Lucas said "Star Wars" was finished on the big screen, a new trilogy is destined for theaters, since The Walt Disney Co. announced Tuesday that it was buying Lucasfilm Ltd. for $4.05 billion. The seventh movie, with a working title of "Episode 7," is set for release in 2015. Episodes 8 and 9 will follow. The new trilogy will carry the story of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia beyond "Return of the Jedi," the third film released and the sixth in the saga. After that, Disney plans a new "Star Wars" movie every two or three years. Lucas will serve as the creative consultant for the new movies. "For the past 35 years, one of my greatest pleasures has been to see 'Star Wars' passed from one generation to the next," said Lucas, chairman and CEO of Lucasfilm Ltd. "It's now time for me to pass 'Star Wars' on to a new generation of filmmakers. I've always believed that 'Star Wars' could live beyond me, and I thought it was important to set up the transition during my lifetime."
