Where was I ? Well, if you get caught up in Istanbul nights, you lose your days like I did during the last week..
One of the concerts which I enjoyed was the conert of the Netherland Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra ; conducted by Lorin Maazel.. Truly one of the greatest symphony orchestras in the world.. Posting a favorite : divine Adagio by Concertgebou from Mahler's 5th :
In this version it is Berlin Phil cunducted by Karajan:
Another concert (on a completely different tone..) was J-Lo who had 3 concerts in Istanbul and we had tickets for the 3rd one. I like her ..Forget the songs, her show and dances were super.. Actually we were lucky with the 3rd concert because she did some belly dancing.. LOL!

I was not disappoined with THE HOBBIT.. I knew what I was going to see in the film directed by Peter Jackson: lots of battles.. The book is so funny, so entertaining that giving it to the hands of Peter Jackson was a disaster. .The only impressing scene was the riddle scene between Bilbo and Gollum - it was exactly as depicted as in the book..Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins was good.. people will see it and The Hobbit will stay at the top of B.O. I dont know what we are going to do with the action-crazy Tom !!!!!

Mr. Darcy, Rising Who would not have swooned at the sight of a manfully tousled Colin Firth striding moodily around in his wet shirt during the broadcast of the 1995 BBC mini-series “Pride and Prejudice”? The scene — in which Mr. Firth’s character, Mr. Darcy, bumps into Elizabeth Bennet (Jennifer Ehle) after taking an impetuous swim on his estate — caused serious chest palpitations among those viewers who were not dead, and remains perhaps the only time a man dressed in a damp, puffy white blouse has ever looked truly hot on screen.
So imagine the shock of workers and passers-by in Hyde Park on Monday morning, when Mr. Darcy emerged from the water yet again, like some sort of Arthurian resurrection, this time in the form of a 12-foot-tall statue plunked in the middle of the Serpentine.
“I liked the way the shirt was clinging to his chest,” said Veronica Matthews, assistant manager of the Lido Cafe in Hyde Park, speaking of the statue, which greeted her as she arrived at work on Monday. It had been placed there as a publicity move by UKTV, which plans to rebroadcast the six-part “Pride and Prejudice” series on its newest channel later this month.
The work was removed later in the day and will tour other lakes in Britain before ending up at Lyme Park, where the mini-series was partly filmed and where super-keen visitors occasionally show up wearing (nonwet) Lizzie-and-Darcy costumes of their own.
If Ms. Matthews had a criticism, it was that the statue did not look enough like Mr. Firth. For her, this practically defeated the purpose of displaying it in the Serpentine, or in any lake at all. SOURCE

Strange Sounds Heard In Terrace, British Columbia, May Be Connected To Worldwide Phenomenon (VIDEO) The Huffington Post | Posted: 08/30/2013 5:10 pm EDT | Updated: 08/31/2013 10:54 am EDT
. :Moaning Sound In The Sky, Strange Sounds, Strange Sounds Around The World, Strange Sounds Canada, Strange Sounds Heard, Strange Sounds Heard Canada, Strange Sounds In The Sky, Terrace BC, Trumpet Sounds In The Sky, Weird News . This video is like a real-life horror movie.
Kimberly Wookey of Terrace, British Columbia, woke up early Thursday morning to a loud, strange trumpet-like sound. She'd heard the sounds before, back in June, so she grabbed her camera and recorded it. This time, she said, the noises were more intense. Her 7-year-old son was already in the living room -- he had heard the sounds and was scared, she said.
Wookey recorded the bizarre moaning noises from her living room and then posted them online, where she saw other reports of people who'd heard similar noises. One resident thought someone was dragging a dumpster and the lack of wind that day allowed the sound to carry through the valley. However, Wookey's video appears to show a quite a bit of wind.
Some claim her video is fake, and that the sounds were taken from this scene in the 2011 horror movie "Red State."
The local police aren't sure where the sounds came from.
Click the video above to watch.
Similar sounds have been heard elsewhere in Canada and around the world.
One day in January 2012, in the small town of North Battleford, Saskatchewan, which is 1,000 miles east of Terrace, a local radio station got around 40 calls from residents asking about strange sounds in the sky. In the far-flung community of Conklin, Alberta, which is over 300 miles from North Battleford and over 1,000 miles from Terrace, a creepy video filmed in the forest purports to show a similar phenomenon. ("It sounds like the planet is screaming in pain," one commenter wrote.) A few days after the video in Conklin appeared, a video filmed in the town of The Pas, Manitoba -- a 13-hour drive southeast -- shows more or less the same thing.
In Chicago, Ill., sounds were heard that were also very similar to those recorded by Wookey. "The weird noise started a couple days ago," the uploader wrote in January 2012. "It's loud and even violent at times."
A video from last year in Texas, this one titled "Strange sounds coming from the sky," shows a group of puzzled people listening to the eerie noises.
Other videos claim to have captured the unexplained noises in Michigan, New York and as far away as Spain and Norway. Sometimes the noise sounds like an animal moaning, other times it's a low rumble, a whine or a thumping.
The comments sections of these videos are full of people quoting the Bible or claiming the noises are a portent of the apocalypse. Others say the noises are a sign of extra-terrestrial life in the Earth's vicinity.

September 15, 2013 Wendy, I'm an Opera! Stephen King's The Shining for the Minnesota Opera
We've always been baffled at Stephen King's notorious, public hatred of Stanley Kubric's 1980 cinematic adaption of his 1977 thriller, The Shining. After all, the spooky masterpiece full of Nicholson dramz, blood rivers and Diane Arbusesque twins has inspired dissertations and theses from its vast cult of fan-boys, rightfully so.
So we can only imagine King's reaction to The Minnesota Opera's news of its latest opera commission, which bows The Shining for a May 2016 world premiere at Ordway in Saint Paul, Minnesota with composer Paul Moravec and librettist Mark Campbell on score & quill.
It's the second time that Stephen King's novels have been Beaumarchais'd, as the San Francisco Opera readies the curtain of an auto-commissioned Tobias Picker/J.D. McClatchy world premiere Dolores Claiborne on September 18 with Patricia Racette in the title role.
We're psyched for this new project but we beg Moravec to hang the Bartók mantle heavily on his shoulders -- Bartók's iconic Music for Strings, Percussion and Celeste that Kubric wove behind the film's most chilling moments (our favorites, above and below) converged the film's most eerie flights of psychological-thriller fancy.
